e know surveys because we have produced them since 1969 and we have produced so many different types. Each one is designed on a customized basis from initial questionnaire to final survey report, with comprehensive input from users themselves and sponsoring association staff. We produce CEO and executive compensation surveys that cover base pay, bonus/incentive data, total cash compensation and the details of executive perquisites, including cars, clubs, contracts, severance programs and supplemental benefits. We conduct management compensation surveys for single states and in broader regional geographies with coalitions of state hospital associations or other groups. These surveys can provide data using both standard tables with discreet size categories (under $25 million, $25 to $50, $50 to $100, etc.) and, secondly, regression analyses that project pay for cont inuous measures of job size. Our staff and supervisory compensation surveys range from 25 to 250 titles logically organized by job families; with multiple data cuts, such as size, geographic regions, and hospital types (acute care, teaching, specialty); with data reported on supplemental issues such as shift differentials, union and FLSA status, bonus eligibility; and with matched-sample year-to-year trend analyses for each job. Our physician compensation surveys compile data for department chairs, chiefs, practice executives and staff positions based on a variety of physician compensation models, including salary, salary plus bonus, RVU and other productivity approaches, and more. All of our surveys are conducted with full knowledge of the federal anti-trust regulations related to healthcare compensation surveys.
e know healthcare because all of us have worked or consulted directly in that field. And we know healthcare compensation because, first, we produce so many related surveys, and secondly, because we are full-time consultants in compensation with over 400 clients, including a primary focus on healthcare organizations. We are skilled compensation professionals who know how to design and administer compensation programs as well as how to use the compensation survey data we compile.
e know computer, internet and web technology because we use these tools constantly in conducting our compensation surveys, and are constantly upgrading our systems capabilities. We are prepared to offer these systems directly through our own resources or to partner with your organization in using its resources (for example, conducting a survey through your own web site). Our surveys are produced using Access and SPSS and the results are distributed via CDs, email, the web and hard copy.
e know statistics because it is critical that we do. Different statistics have different applications and different meanings, and if you do not understand them, they can easily lead to incorrect conclusions. We work carefully with our survey clients and users to make sure that they ask the right questions and draw the correct conclusions.
e know quality control because we are committed to ensuring the accuracy and validity of the data we report. Built in to all of our survey processing are computer edits that quickly identify potentially incorrect data, and collect such questions by survey participant. We are in constant communication with these participants to obtain clarifications. Their answers greatly enhance survey accuracy and provide invaluable knowledge that allows us to interpret the data and its nuances more accurately in survey written commentary, in presentations to user groups, and in our response to individual user questions.
e know customer service because it is such an important and integral part of a high quality compensation survey process. We establish user groups for our surveys to obtain direct input into survey design and feedback on final products. We provide survey custom data cuts for individual participants. We conduct low cost “instant surveys” for organizations wishing current data from specific institutions on selected titles, often with results in a few days. We talk to our clients constantly to respond to their questions about survey results, how to interpret or apply the data, what is behind the data that may not be obvious in the pure numbers, where other data sources may be obtained, and more.
